Publication of the 4th round of the Afrobarometer

We have just published the most recent round of the Afrobarometer. It already has been the fourth time that the surveys have been carried out on the African continent, conducted between 2008 and 2009 in 20 countries. It is worth mentioning that 12 countries (Botswana, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria and South Africa, etc.) already participated for the 4th time, and also that there have been two newly incorporated countries (Burkina Faso and Liberia).

The publication of the latest round permits the analysis of the Afrobarometer data over 10 years. There is a standard set of questions that makes possible a systematic comparison of countries and allows to study tendencies in people’s attitudes over time. As in previous rounds, socio-political and economic topics were treated, focussing on democracy and regime consolidation, poverty reduction, globalization, and the emergence of democratic citizens.

The JDSurvey's online analysis tool allows to analyze all results interactively. You can select a sample (or samples) and choose the variable you want to analyze in the question index, read the question text, analyze marginals, cross-tabulations and graphics.
